Definitions
Nanny
A Nanny is someone who works with your family on a regular basis with recurring shifts each week.
Their duties include being the sole care provider whilst parents are away and to perform agreed upon tasks and activities.

Babysitter
A Babysitter's role within the family is similar to a Nanny's but is not typically utilised on a regular basis.

Parent's Helper
The biggest difference between a Nanny and a Parent's Helper (commonly referred to as a mother's helper) is that a Nanny focuses primarily on the needs of the children and a Parent's Helper focuses primarily on the needs of the parents.
Often a Parent's Helper performs all the duties of a Nanny but expands their care to household duties and domestic duties.
An excellent example of this is to think of one parent putting the kids to bed whilst the Parent's Helper feeds the baby and the other parent folds the daily washing - it's an evolving partnership between all the adults.
